It was while he was looking at job advertisements for a friend that he came across a role with an agency who worked with local farmers, which appealed to him. He applied for the position and within a short period of time, and a move to regional Victoria from the city, he was working the hours he wanted and on the land.
It was this position which got him a foot into the sector and has led to him now working full time at one of Australia’s largest almond farms.
Nick worked as an agency worker for seven months before moving to a full time position in 2017 at the farm and he hasn’t looked back since. Nick is now a Load Operator and Shift Supervisor and works closely with Des, who oversees the operation.
Nick said agency work allowed him to work the hours he wanted and allowed him to make good money. He is a big believer if you work hard you reap the benefits and this has come true for him in this line of work.
