After more than 45 years working in education, Daryl was a firm believer that the skill-set required to teach and act as a school principal could easily transition to other areas such as HR, finance and training.
After leaving his role as a school principal, Daryl was looking for a new challenge and a chance to put his theory to practice.
It was while he was undertaking further studies at University, and working for himself in training, that he met an agency at a job fair. The agency agreed with Daryl and could see his 45 years in education would transition perfectly for one of their tech start-up companies.
Daryl worked for around 6 months in payroll and financial services, before accepting a full time role with the company as their finance officer.
For Daryl, agency work provided him a foot in the door and a great opportunity to show the many transferrable skills from education to other professional services. It’s this attitude and constant pursuit of new opportunities and ongoing learning he loves to impart as part of his volunteer work in youth development with Melbourne High School leadership programs.
Outside of work, he loves to cycle and volunteer as part of the restoration project at Alma Doepel.
